We were very disappointed that our trip to Butterfield Acres had to be cancelled today due to the poor air quality. My sincere apologies and gratitude to all of the parent volunteers that came prepared to go. Fortunately, I was able to reschedule the trip for June 14, so fingers crossed that the will weather cooperate with us!
This week at school the children: - wrote about and drew their observations of our caterpillars in their butterfly observation books. One of our caterpillars formed it's chrysalis today! I expect when we return to school on Monday most of our caterpillars will be in their pupa stage. The children have been very interested and excited observing them and seeing how fast and how big they have grown in just a week. The children have also been fortunate to observe the grade 2's baby chicks, which hatched this week. - practiced solving addition and subtraction equations to 10. Try to have your child practice his/her problem solving skills with every day questions. ie. There were 6 cookies on the plate and we ate 4. How many are left? - learned about Hudson's favorite hobbies and his talent for building and wrote a message for Hudson's Star Student book. - listened and viewed stories about butterflies and farm animals - practiced jump rope skills in gym. If your child doesn't have a skipping rope at home, they are very inexpensive at the dollar store. Skipping is a great activity for developing coordination and cardiovascular fitness! Have a great weekend and I'm hoping to see you at the volunteer tea on Monday afternoon!
